Stuart Pereira Designer, Artist, illustrator and Author. Born 1945 Cardiff

Stuart Pereira

I was born in Cardiff in 1945, four months before the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Trained as a graphic designer in the 1960s, I followed a career as a museums exhibition designer until 2003. I now write novels (thrillers), short stories and when I can find the time I also paint vintage aircraft and wildlife.  Widowed in 1997, I have two sons and live in Yorkshire. In 2005, I enrolled in creative writing classes, gaining Certificates in Creative Writing and Poetry, through the Open College Network.

My first novel South Atlantic Soldier was published in paperback through Feed a Read in 2012 and for Kindle in 2013. It has received favourable Amazon reviews averaging 4.3 out of 5 stars. Snapshots, my short story collection, was published for Kindle in 2013.   Helter Skelter, a new work published 2015 is the first in a series to be followed later this year (2015) by Skelter’s Vengeance.

My work has appeared on the Web at the Reader’s Digest site and Paragraph Planet. Of eight competitions I have entered, two of my short stories have been awarded first prizes. (Global Short Story Competition and Morley Literature Festival) Several editions of the British Clematis Society Journal feature my illustrated articles and poems. I have honed my skills, through courses and residential retreats run by the WEA.
